One of the major aims of the COST Action ESIND is to create a digital collection of (a) translations of sources on India from different parts of Europe and the surrounding regions and from various historical periods from the year 1400 until today and (b) of visual images of India that were created and circulated in Europe during these historical periods. We are happy to announce that the ESIND Digital Platform, where this collection will be made available to the public, is now online with browse and search functions. At this initial stage, it contains a first batch of 12 translations from sources originally in Czech, Dutch, and French. This first set of translations consists of excerpts from books, periodicals, newspapers, and unpublished manuscripts from the 1720s to 1963. Selected translations will be accompanied by the publication of posts on the ESIND Blog on our website; currently, two such blog posts give an introduction to the first translations.

We invite all ESIND network members and other interested people to visit and test the ESIND Digital Platform and give us any feedback you may have and, of course, to contribute new translations and images for publication on the platform.
