Post Date:
Transferir

On 6-7 February 2026, the international workshop “My First Time in India” will be held at the Antonio Pasqualino International Puppet Museum in Palermo, Italy. This event is the first workshop organized within the activities of the WG2 Encounters between Europeans and Indians, past and present and is conceived as a pilot event for the group’s future initiatives.

The workshop explores European first encounters with India from the early modern period to the twentieth century, focusing on travel accounts, cultural perceptions, religious imaginaries, and the production of cross-cultural knowledge. Bringing together ESIND scholars from several European institutions, the event examines how India was imagined, represented, and interpreted across different historical and intellectual contexts. Please find more information here.

The workshop will be held entirely in person. However, it will be possible to follow the sessions online via the following link: https://meet.google.com/cfp-zagb-zur

Dates: 6-7 February 2026
From 10:00 CET
Venue: Antonio Pasqualino International Puppet Museum
